2020 - March
Closed! After the first Corona cases in the country became known, we decided to close our school in mid-March. A few days later the government gave the official order: no more classes for the time being. Since then there is a strict curfew in the country. People are only allowed to leave their homes for a few hours a day. Since public transport is no longer in operation, there is hardly any time for daily errands, which are further complicated by exploding prices for basic foodstuffs. The situation in the countryside is still reasonably bearable. In the city, however, where most of our teachers live, the supply has become difficult. And nobody knows how long this will continue. We support our staff with a special payment and in the meantime we are condemned to wait and see. Carlos Robalo and our driver Joao regularly inspect buildings and grounds and have used the time for some necessary repair work. Everyone is afraid of the virus. Those who fall ill have hardly any chance of receiving modern medical care here.
